One of my resolutions in 2011 is to continue volunteering with Good Works Inc., a nonprofit organization which exists to improve the living conditions for low-income families in Chester County. There is no cost to the homeowners and the volunteers do all the repairs.

I will write a card to a soldier at war, thanking him for all that he has done and the sacrifices that he has made to keep our country safe.  Also, I will smile at everyone, especially if they are having a bad day.

I want to muster up the strength to donate blood even though I’m extremely squeamish.

In 2011, I can make a conscious decision that will help others, as well as be rewarding for myself. I am aware of the world’s flaws and usually do nothing to act upon it. Many people are destitute, society is chaotic, and there are more problems than we know how to deal with. I cannot promise that I’ll make a local or global movement, but I promise I can make my own actions move others. I will use my own morals and values to positively influence those around me to make better decisions for themselves and decisions that will effect others. Hopefully, I can stear people in the right direction.

This year, to make sure I enjoy it while helping others and myself, I’m going to clean my entire room at the end of every month and donate any belongs I no longer need to a local shelter. This helps me out because when it is time to move to college, I won’t have a lot of luggage to bring to college. Also, it helps those who do not have a lot of belongs get something new.

I will be more tolerant, patient, and polite. I will think more before I speak, take other’s emotions into consideration more often, and strive to make others feel comfortable and welcome at all times.

This year I will smile more often to everyone. Also, I will volunteer at a local hospital, nursing home, and a school for children with disabilities. Then, I will continue to help young children succeed in this world.

Instead of arguing, I’ll have more paitence. I will appreciate what I have, give my extra to those who need it, smile every chance possible, and share the lessons I learned from 2010. My mistakes can prevent someone else from doing the same.

For 2011, I will strive to do a good deed daily and ‘pay it forward’ in hopes that it will catch on so that positive energy will be put out into the world
